York Entrepreneurship Development Institute enables accessible education with new entrepreneurship and small business management degree program
TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Canadian students can now access a high-quality education for free, thanks to an innovative new degree program offered by the York Entrepreneurship Development Institute (YEDI).
The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management degree program is an unparalleled educational opportunity created to address the lack of accessible, high-level education available to Canadian business professionals. Offered tuition-free to eligible Canadians, this program will give professionals the tools, training, and resources to attract investors and operate successfully in today’s competitive business ecosystem. With 8/10 YEDI alumni requesting more in-depth educational programs, the institution saw an opportunity to provide valuable and accessible education coupled with YEDI’s long track record of accelerating successful businesses.
“We are bridging the gap between accessible education and high quality education», declares Marat Ressin, president of YEDI. “By making this program accessible to everyone, we can ensure that lack of knowledge and inexperience don’t hold back Canadian business owners and entrepreneurs. I have always believed in the importance of social impact and the value that these Canadian professionals can add when given the opportunity to maximize their professional potential.
As a Canadian charity, YEDI is committed to ensuring that its world-class educational programs are accessible and affordable for all Canadians. To deliver on this commitment, YEDI secured funding to ensure that all interested Canadian entrepreneurs and small business owners have access to the program, completely tuition-free. Free access to the program is conditional on academic performance, with a minimum required average of 80% per semester. The first cohort of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management degree program will take place in September 2022, with approximately 50 participants from unique industries and businesses across the country. The program offers four key curriculum components – strategic planning, financial planning, marketing and sales, and management and operations. The one-year program will consist of 42 weeks of instruction and will be available with online, hybrid and classroom options.
“I started my business with an idea, but without formal business training. I never considered enrolling in a business program, but discovering YEDI changed my business trajectory and allowed me to gain business acumen that I didn’t know I lacked. The fact that this program was tuition-free, part-time, and applicable made a profound and immediate difference in my business. The connections, resources, and support acquired have propelled my business at a pace I never thought possible. – Vlad Zhitnikov, Cloud IT! And YEDI alumni.
