Governor of Manipur and West Bengal, La Ganesan, said developing entrepreneurship is key to a country’s economic development and added that entrepreneurs not only provide self-employment but also provide business opportunities. employment to others.
Speaking at the Inspiration 18 episode held today at the City Convention Center here, the Governor said efforts were being made to develop entrepreneurial skills so that enough skilled labor is available. available in the country to manage scarce resources by developing cutting-edge businesses.
New generations of entrepreneurs need technical, managerial, financial and marketing skills to meet the challenge of the new world order and be able to compete, he said.
Stating that youth unemployment and the resulting sense of frustration is a central problem in the country, especially in the northeast, including Manipur, La Ganesan said, serious efforts have been made to alleviate the problem unemployment in the region.
He said the initiatives will take time to show tangible results on the ground. There is a need for innovation and participatory approach to attract experts in this field.
He further stated that in spite of many visible difficulties and limitations, few women entrepreneurs in Manipur showed their hidden talents in the form of noticeable scale of production of few competitive items.
Every year, Manipur wins the Outstanding Entrepreneur Award instituted by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
“It is our responsibility to encourage them and move them forward in a new environment and political support,” the governor said.
He requested the Ministry of Trade and Industry to prepare a roadmap for the industrialization of Manipur through a strong policy of structured skills development and entrepreneurship, especially for women.
MP Sapam Nishikant Singh said women should be given preference in all areas of society.
“We should encourage our girls in education and other areas to help them set goals for independent living,” Nishikant said.
Among others, women entrepreneurs, students and experts attended the episode organized under the theme “Entrepreneurship and Empowerment of Women in Manipur”.
