Entrepreneurship Course for Graduates of Agriculture and Related Disciplines

The GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the corporate social responsibility arm of the GMR Group, will train graduates in agriculture and related fields in entrepreneurship. The foundation’s training centers in Shamshabad (airport campus) and Rajam (Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh) have been recognized as Nodal Training Institutions (NTIs) under the Agri Clinic and Agri Business Center scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Welfare of Union Farmers.

The program is managed by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) based in Hyderabad. “Under this program, graduates from the agriculture and related stream will be trained in entrepreneurship through a course provided by NTI. The course will accommodate 35 trainees for each batch,” said a statement from the foundation.

Unemployed agricultural graduates, agricultural degree holders, students who have completed their intermediate in agriculture and biological sciences, and students who have obtained a post-graduation degree in agriculture-related courses with at least one year gap after the training can apply for this new course.

“The selected trainees will follow a 45-day training course at the Nodal Training Institute (NTI). The course will focus on technical skills, entrepreneurial and management skills, and extension strategies for agribusiness,” said Dr. Avanish Kumar, Director (CSR) of GMRVF.

GMRVF will provide free training as well as room and board to all selected candidates during the training period. A separate hostel will be available for candidates.

“The foundation will guide interns in preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) that will facilitate their securing of bank loans and government grants,” a statement from the foundation reads. The first batch of this course will begin on January 1, 2022.
