SRINAGAR: A group of 58 aspiring female entrepreneurs have passed out from the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing an Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) today from ten days under the Tejaswini program of Mission Youth in the district centers of Pulwama and Ganderbal.
The young people trained are from different neighborhoods in these districts and the aim of the program was to hone their entrepreneurial skills by providing training facilities at their doorsteps so that the program covers as many unemployed young people as possible.
JKEDI aims to establish an ecosystem where female entrepreneurs are encouraged to form business units and become economically independent.
The Institute trains candidates in the manufacturing, service and agricultural sectors under the Tejaswani curriculum. The EDP aims to instill skills development, performance improvement and basic business concepts in aspiring entrepreneurs to nudge them on their journey to self-employment. A field visit by the trainees to successful business ventures in their respective districts was also part of the training program.
The candidates chose various activities, mainly dairy farming, sheep and poultry farming, ready-to-wear clothing retail outlets, boutiques, saloons, appliance stores, temporary stores , etc. in Pulwama and Ganderbal districts.
A team of trainers from the Institute’s Regional Center in Pampore helped provide quality training to these budding entrepreneurs at the district centres. The services of various visiting faculties from the line departments of DECC, DIC, J&K Bank, Insurance Industry and Handicraft Department were utilized during the PDE.
At the end of the program, certificates were issued to successful candidates by JKEDI officials.
So far, the Institute has trained 760 women entrepreneurs under the Mission Youth Tejaswani program at J&K and 2310 DPRs have been prepared by the Institute which are submitted to the respective DECCs.
